Hu Jintao to attend St. Petersburg Forum
Chinese President Hu Jintao will attend, and deliver the keynote speech at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum later today. It marks the first time top Chinese leaders have attended the forum.This year's theme is "Leaders For The New Era."
And the event's key topics look at ensuring global growth, expanding technological horizons, and building creative capital in Russia.
The forum will also focus on the increasing importance of emerging markets in improving the global post-crisis economic environment.
The Chinese president comes to St. Petersburg after a visit to Moscow, where he held positive talks with his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev.
Both sides have agreed to expand bilateral trade volume to 150 billion U.S. dollars by 2015, and 200 billion U.S. dollars by 2020.
China and Russia will also increase investment in high-tech industries, including astronomy, civil aviation, energy and nuclear power.
