Xinjiang: Zhang Chunxian 

Zhang Chunxian, a Han Chinese and native of Yuzhou, Henan Province, was born in 1953. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in November 1973.

He graduated from Northeast Heavy Machinery College with a bachelor's degree, and later received his master's degree in management from Harbin Institute of Technology.

Zhang was secretary and vice dean of the Tenth Institute of Project Planning and Research, Ministry of Machinery Industry. He also served as general manager of China National Packaging and Food Machinery Corporation and assistant governor of Yunnan Province.

Zhang served in the Ministry of Communications from 1997-2005 and acted as secretary of Hunan Provincial Committee of the CPC from 2005 to 2010.

He was appointed Party secretary of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in April 2010.

He is now a member of the 17th CPC Central Committee and secretary of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Committee of the CPC.
